Application Process

The Library generally follows the following sequence to fill position vacancies:

  • Internal posting - to afford existing staff opportunities to advance or change assignments
  • Review of applications on file
  • External advertising - generally through professional journals/organizations, local colleges/universities, newspapers, and the Library website.

In some cases the above methods may be used concurrently to attract a sufficient number of qualified candidates and to expedite filling of positions. The Library does not routinely acknowledge receipt of resumes or applications, but does respond to candidates interviewed under normal circumstances.

Resume/Application Information

Application forms are available on this web site and at the Library/Reception/Information Booth on the 1st floor. The library receives resumes and applications on a continuing basis as well as in response to external advertisements. Resumes and applications are retained and considered “active” for six months.  Applicants who are still interested in employment at the Library after six months have lapsed should submit another resume or application in order to receive continued consideration.   Resumes and applications are accepted at the Library Reception/Information Booth, by fax at (708)422-5061, or via email olpljobs@olpl.org
